Smoking Areas
One strategy to minimize the spread of COVID-19 is to reduce the likelihood that students will congregate without social distancing and neglect to follow the University’s mask policy. As a result, the designated smoking areas on campus will now be closed.
Quarantine & Isolation
Rooms will be available on campus for quarantine and isolation should a student be exposed to COVID-19, show symptoms, and be directed by a health care provider to isolate. Isolation for students who have tested positive, or have been in direct contact with someone who has tested positive, will be through health care partners. Students who have been exposed to COVID-19 or who have been diagnosed, should isolate at home before returning to campus.
Off-campus Visitors
Family members can visit you, but they are not permitted in the residence halls, and masks are required on campus for those who are not vaccinated. Students who live off-campus are not permitted in the residence halls.
Travel During Breaks or Holidays
If you travel during the holiday break or return home, please follow the CDC’s guidance for travel.
Please keep in mind that once an individual is exposed to COVID, it may take up to 14 days to develop symptoms. Therefore, it is advised that you curtail any activities which may put you at higher risk to contract the virus 14 days prior to leaving campus. Avoid activities like hosting parties, attending large gatherings, being away from personal living space for extended periods of time, and visiting individuals who are not part of your immediate friend group. All of these things can increase the risk of getting COVID. As always, keep practicing the 3 Ws (Wear, Wait, Wash) to protect yourself, your family, and the community.
