Academic Success Center
On Monday, August, 10th, starting at noon, Campus Recreation will open the Indoor Pool and our Explore, Move, and Play Outside Series. Additional facilities and programs will be phased in over time, based on the State of North Carolina reopening plan and as deemed safe by UNC Asheville. To best meet the needs of our students and campus community, Campus Recreation facilities, classes and activities, will only be available for currently registered students, faculty, and staff.
The Student Recreation Center will be closed November 22, 2020 through January 10, 2021.

Dining Services will implement limited dine-in and carry-out service and implement social distancing practices in dining areas, making sure service and pick-up stations are spaced at least 6 feet apart. Pre-packaged and to-go options will be served in disposable and compostable containers with a focus on complete meals (pre-packaged or served) from a single station. Self-serve stations will not be available. Meal options will be expanded at the different dining venues to reduce capacity at any one venue.

Health & Counseling Center
Students can still access Health & Counseling Services even while at home or away from campus over break. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment or speak with a provider, please call 828.251.6520. Please do not come to the Health & Counseling Center unless you have a scheduled appointment.
The Health & Counseling Center will be closed December 21, 2020 through January 3, 2021.
Highsmith Student Union
Highsmith Student Union remained open during the summer and will be open the following hours for the fall semester starting August 3:
- Monday – Wednesday: 7:30 a.m.-Midnight
- Thursday – Friday: 7:30 a.m.-1 a.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m.-1 a.m.
- Sunday: Noon-10 p.m.

The Student Mail Center in Highsmith will be closed November 22, 2020 through January 10, 2021 Students not staying on campus during the winter break that have an immediate need to have a package or mail delivered are encouraged to have their items sent directly to their winter break address.
Hours of operation, starting Aug. 10:
- Sunday: 2-9 p.m.
- Monday – Thursday: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
- Friday: 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Ramsey Library will be reconfigured to create distance between furnishings. Lobby furniture and gathering areas will be limited, and directional signage will indicate one-way traffic patterns for each floor. Watch the Return to Campus Fall 2020 video tour to learn how to navigate the library.
Remote services remain available and users are encouraged to limit visits to the library if services are available online. Staff will be available to digitize many materials, such as course reserves, when needed. In-person services such as library loans and check-outs will be low- or no-touch. Library patrons are encouraged to sanitize the stations they use before and after use. Sanitizing wipe stations and instructions will be provided.
Returned items will be placed in quarantine bins for an appropriate amount of time or sanitized before being made available to check out or use again.
Some areas, such as the Media Design Lab, Video Production, CrAFT Studios, and Special Collections and University Archives will be accessible by appointment only, limited to one person at a time. Equipment will be sanitized after use.

Shuttles and Transportation
The UNC Asheville shuttle services will be implementing a plan that promotes physical distancing. Additional safety measures include wearing masks, making masks and hand sanitizer available on board the shuttle, and increased frequency of shuttle cleaning throughout the day using a disinfecting fogger solution. Protective barriers will be installed between the drivers and passengers.
Routes and schedules will be updated over time based on ridership and other data. ART buses will operate on a regular schedule but with limited seating to allow for social distancing.
Face masks must be worn when riding on the University shuttles.
