Refunds for Housing and Dining

On March 20, 2020, the UNC System announced that it will be issuing pro-rated reimbursements of housing and dining fees that have been unused as a result of the University System’s rapid response to COVID-19. The chief financial officers at each institution are all working together with the UNC System Office to ensure uniformity of processes and calculations for determining refund amounts. We will provide updates on the reimbursement process as details become available.

Update: April 30, 2020

As we continue to finalize the housing and meal plan reimbursement calculations, please note that the reimbursement will be applied automatically to the outstanding unpaid balance in your student account. To check your account balance, please log into ePayment through OnePort.

We anticipate the reimbursements to be credited to student accounts by May 8, 2020. You will receive an updated bill for the account balance once the reimbursements have been applied.

You will receive the reimbursements either by direct deposit or by paper check sent to your mailing address. To sign up for direct deposit, please follow the instructions below.

If you prefer to have your reimbursement mailed as a paper check, please view and update your mailing address in OnePort. If you have any questions about updating your mailing address, please contact academicsuccess@unca.edu.

How to Set Up Direct Deposit:

  • Log in to oneport.unca.edu
  • Go to ePayments (located under Financial Aid and Payments)
  • Click on Refund Account Setup
  • Click on Security Settings in My Profile to enroll in Two-Step Verification
  • Once completed, select Refunds and Set Up Account to enter your bank information

Please note: Setting up direct deposit is not required to receive your refund. The Student Accounts Office will continue to issue paper checks to those who do not set up direct deposit.
